Grace Community School Welcomes Mimi’s Playhouse
We are thrilled to announce that Grace Community School has officially assumed ownership of Mimi’s Playhouse — continuing a beloved legacy of nurturing care in the heart of our community.
A new team, the same mission
We are overjoyed to share this milestone with our community. Grace Community School — rooted in faith, excellence, and whole-child development — has acquired Mimi’s Playhouse in Petal, MS. This beloved childcare center has served families across our community for years, and we are honored to carry that legacy forward.
As Grace Community School takes over operations, families can expect the same warm, nurturing environment that has made Mimi’s Playhouse a treasured part of Petal — now enhanced by GCS’s proven programs, dedicated educators, and commitment to developing young minds in a Christ-centered atmosphere.
The Warmth You Know
The caring relationships, familiar faces, and welcoming environment that families love about Mimi’s Playhouse will remain. Our priority is continuity and comfort for every child and family.
Enriched Curriculum
Children will benefit from GCS’s thoughtfully developed early childhood curriculum — engaging, developmentally appropriate, and grounded in values that build character alongside knowledge.
Faith-Centered Foundation
As a Christian school, Grace Community School weaves faith, love, and purpose into every aspect of the school day — helping children grow in spirit as much as in mind.

questions?
What ages will be served?
We will serve children from age 2 through their Pre-K year and will have an Afterschool program that serves students Kindergarten-4th grade.
Will you have uniforms like in Hattiesburg?
This year, we have decided not to do uniforms for our Preschool students. We will revisit this next year.
Do you use a curriculum?/What curriculum do you use?
Yes, we use the Abeka curriculum. The Abeka curriculum is a Christian-based educational program used in private schools and homeschools, known for its rigorous and structured approach. It emphasizes traditional values, phonics-based reading instruction, and a strong foundation in core subjects such as math, science, and history. Abeka also integrates biblical teachings throughout its content to provide a faith-based learning experience.
What will your hours be?
We will be open Monday-Friday 7:00-5:30
How do I enroll my child?
We have limited enrollment and will go on a first come, first serve basis. While we will have a digital link to enroll at a later date, for right now please email Brentley Wells at brentley@thewhaleschool.com
Do I have to be a Christian to attend?
While Grace Community only employs staff that profess a belief in Jesus Christ, we do not require or expect all of our families to hold our same views and convictions.
Many families do choose to attend Grace Community for our Christian values and education, but some are more interested in the level of service and the academic readiness that comes with our program.
If you are not a Christian, we will love, care and educate your child just the same!
