What ages do you accept?
We can begin care for children as early as 6 weeks of age as long as they have a Form 121 or Form 122 shot record.
We provide care for children from Infancy through their Kindergarten year.
We have an After School program as well for children 5-10. If an After School student turns 11 during the school year, they can finish the year with us.
Do you use a curriculum?/What curriculum do you use?
Yes, we use the Abeka curriculum. The Abeka curriculum is a Christian-based educational program used in private schools and homeschools, known for its rigorous and structured approach. It emphasizes traditional values, phonics-based reading instruction, and a strong foundation in core subjects such as math, science, and history. Abeka also integrates biblical teachings throughout its content to provide a faith-based learning experience.
Do you have a waitlist? How can I apply?
We usually do have a waiting list, especially in our younger classrooms. To officially get on our waiting list, please turn in an application and $75 to hold your space. That $75 applies to your first week of tuition once a space becomes available. Our waiting list is first come first serve. We do give priority to current families and to GCS teachers.
Do you offer any discounts?
We do offer a multiple child discount of $10/week.
How many days are you closed each year?
We are usually closed 11-13 days each year.
The following are regular closings: New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day.
We will also close for two Teacher Training Days that could be on the following: MLK Day, President’s Day, Columbus Day.
What do you do in the event of bad weather?
As a general rule, we follow the Lamar County School system. If they decide to close down school or close early, we will follow their lead. When Lamar County is not in session, we will rely heavily on local news and make a call in our best judgement. Our goal is to be present and provide the service our families are counting on as long as the conditions are plenty safe enough to do so.
Do I have to be a Christian to attend?
While Grace Community only employs staff that profess a belief in Jesus Christ, we do not require or expect all of our families to hold our same views and convictions.
Many families do choose to attend Grace Community for our Christian values and education, but some are more interested in the level of service and the academic readiness that comes with our program.
If you are not a Christian, we will love, care and educate your child just the same!
